Natural Plant Dyeing
Last Thursday, we hosted one of our Live Natural Dye Workshops featuring Lady’s Bedstraw, and it was a fantastic hands-on experience from start to finish.
Throughout the day, we explored the full natural dyeing process, beginning with preparing the wool for dyeing and carefully measuring the dye materials. The wool was scoured with detergent to ensure it was clean and ready to absorb the colour effectively.

From there, the dye baths were created using Lady’s Bedstraw, discovering how this remarkable plant can produce beautiful results. One of the most interesting parts of the workshop was experimenting with different sections of the plant to achieve different shades and tones, showing just how varied and expressive natural dyeing can be.
To finish, the wool was mordanted to help set and fix the colour, ensuring the final results were as lasting as they were vibrant.
It was a wonderful opportunity to learn, experiment, and connect with the natural dyeing process in a practical and creative setting.
THE RESULTS!
